Data Recovery Tool
Looking for data recovery tools
and downloads? Welcome
to Data Recovery Essentials, an independent site containing unbiased data
recovery information for both corporates and home users.
We've prepared this checklist to
help you evaluate data recovery tools and software
packages.
a) First, try to establish the cause
of the data loss:
- File deletion
- Computer virus
- Damage caused by power
failure or power spike
- Software failure
- Corrupt or missing
file system structures
- Partitioning
problems
- Drives that have been fdisked or formatted
- Application crash
- System shutdown
- Hard disk or media failure
- Boot problems
Don't know? Some applications can actually help you
diagnose the cause. Look for software that does this
if you're unsure.
b) Don't buy more heavily featured software than you
need. Some software will restore files only, while
other
data
recovery
software
can repair, restore and diagnose problems. If you can
establish the cause of the problem, then you are more
likely to choose data recovery software that fits your
needs.
c) Licensing - Do you have multiple hard drives that
you need to work with? Check to see that the data
recovery tool covers all applicable
uses.
There are numerous data recovery tools available for
download. Check out these hand selected resources at
